16 August 2010 - Felt Needle Book

August 16, 2010
After finishing the cross stitch I wanted to relax, but my boyfriend was playing the PS3, so there wasn't much for me to do apart from do some more stitching... Seeing as I am a beginner in needlework, embroidery, etc, I don't yet have a proper box to put all my things in. Currently everything is stuffed into shoe boxes. When I'm looking for my needles though, I always seem to find them by sticking them into my fingers..ouch... So I thought I'd make myself a felt needle book. it only took me about 2 hours and I'm very pleased with myself....

16 August 2010 - Finally finished the cross stitch - hooray!!

August 16, 2010
Phew, I finally finished it... a week too late mind you, but at least my friend saw what I was working on last week at the christening as I took it in for her to see (and then I took it back home again)... I completely misjudged my timings on this cross stitch. I figured I'd have it done in a week. It was the border that killed me though. I didn't make it easy on myself with 5 different colours and having to start, stop and finish up on every individual line.... The lion itself was ok... that...

09 August 2010 - Update on the Cakes for the Church Auction

August 9, 2010
I like baking cakes, but whenever people say I should do it for a living and charge people for it, I just shrug it off with an 'aww, thanks'.... I'm very pleased to tell you, however, that the cakes were a massive seller at the Church auction on Friday. The chocolate cake went for £100 and the carrot cake went for £80, the apple pie went into the raffle and was quickly swooped up.

There were loads of things on auction, from a personal chef cooking for you to a week's holiday in France (or w...

06 August 2010 - Busy Baking Cakes for Church Auction

August 6, 2010
I had to take a day off work yesterday as I was asked to bake some cakes for a charity auction at my church. We're trying to raise money for underprivileged children in Swaziland. I can't remember the amount we raised last year, but we built them a library and filled it with books and also bought them the medicines that they needed.

To help out this year I baked 3 cakes: Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake and Dutch Apple Pie. The Apple Pie didn't turn out as nice (presentation wise) as I would've li...

04 August 2010 - New Doggie

August 4, 2010
While I'm at it updating my posts I though I'd share with you the joy of our new doggie.... Her name is Storm, she's 4 years old and she's a Husky (obviously)... She's adopted from another family that didn't want her anymore and who weren't looking after her properly. Since we've got her on Saturday she's been spoilt rotten with toys and treats... She's even stolen Sam's (the cat) stuffed toys.... She's extremely playful and affectionate, but also very cheeky as she'll jump on the sofa during...

04 August 2010 - Christening Gift, Cross Stich Birth Sampler

August 4, 2010
My Godson is getting christened on Sunday, and to be honest, I have never been to a christening and don't really know what kind of present you should be giving. I don't like giving standard presents (as you may have already noticed), so I decide to make something. I wanted to make him a personalised keepsake box, but although I got the box yesterday, I don't have enough time to paint and personalise it...

So I decided to make a birth sampler... although he's already 9 months old, I know no one...

04 August 2010 - Felt Bird Brooches - 3 of a kind, sort of....

August 4, 2010
I nearly forgot to mention my bird brooches on here... I started out simple (sort of) with the dark red one.

I got the design of this website: http://www.flickr.com/photos/woolly_fabulous/3620019062/. and the worked with that for the pick one. The other pink brooch with purple stitching is the little birdie of my logo, which wasn't as easy to do and took me a whole evening, but I'm quite pleased with the results....

31 July 2010 - Felt Mitten for New Advent Calendar

August 4, 2010
I started working on my next advent calendar... The mittens aren't as easy to do as the pockets, but I think it looks pretty. I am still trying out work out how to to the white felt properly, so you can't see the stitching on the red mitten on the inside, which is probably why I stopped after just the one mitten... I need a kick up the backside to get started again....

28 July 2010 - Felt Pocket Advent Calendar - Finished, well almost...

August 4, 2010
I finally finished all the pockets for my first advent calendar today. I embroidered the numbers on the white pockets, but I am still to do the numbers on the red pockets... I am planning to hang these up in a frame with someone's name at the top.

The design can be found on the following website: http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2007/11/advent-calendar.html. This website also has loads of other nice stuff on it which can be freely used (for personal use only).

23 July 2010 - Felt Advent Calendar Stars

August 4, 2010
As I am working on an advent calendar for Christmas I thought I would make some felt stars to go with it . I found the design on a website, which I will share with you later. I did them in a blanket stitch, which I find the easiest and finished the white stars of with little red star buttons. I still need to source little white star buttons to finish the red stars off with.
